Problem:
General Dynamics Mission Systems – Canada was contracted by the Canadian government to modernize and improve the user experience of the communications suite of applications used by the Canadian military’s signals operators and technicians in the field.
Solution:
I reviewed qualitative research data, collaborating with Research and Product to prioritize application features and identify user pain points. I also conducted heuristic and task analysis on the products to determine common usability issues. I drafted operational user stories, and user needs were created to capture descriptions of product features as well as needs and preferences from an user perspective.
UX artifacts such as information architecture and user flows were created. Wireframes and high fidelity prototypes were designed, tested and iterated based on user feedback. I also provided support to our engineers during implementation, maintaining and expanded the design system and component library for these applications.
Team:
In my role as a Product Designer, I collaborated with a cross-functional team consisting of a Product Owner, a Researcher, a Data Analyst, a Human Factors Engineer and a Developer.
